While studying music education at Ohio State University I married my husband of 32 years just shy of finishing my formal degree. Raising three wonderful children became my life and priority. After sacrificing time and money for their events and lessons, it was finally time for me to go back to school! Because I had been out of Academia for so long, I elected to work on more concentrated study towards exactly what I wanted to do – teach one-on-one! I took many courses in order to achieve certification in the Suzuki Flute School Method, as well as Kodaly (an excellent sequenced method of presenting and practicing one musical principal upon another in many different ways, so that music can be “heard” in one’s head before playing the notes on the page). I also have done a considerable amount of Body Mapping and the Alexander Method, which enables me to correct playing position issues so as to avoid repetitive injuries. I consider myself a lifetime student, and enjoy bringing new ideas and methods, as well as 10 years of teaching experience to my students.
